The Jackson County Clerk’s Office will conduct a public post-election audit on Wednesday, May 27, in partnership with VSTOP following the recent Primary Election.
The post-election audit is part of Indiana’s ongoing commitment to election integrity and transparency. During the audit process, randomly selected races and voting equipment will be reviewed to verify the accuracy of the election results and ensure voting systems functioned properly throughout the election.
The audit will take place at the Jackson County Judicial Center in the Annex Room beginning at 11 a.m.
Voting System Technical Oversight Program (VSTOP) is Indiana’s federally accredited voting system test laboratory and election security program housed at Ball State University.
VSTOP works with counties across Indiana to help ensure elections are secure, accurate, and compliant with state and federal standards. Their responsibilities include:
•Testing and certifying voting systems used in Indiana
•Conducting post-election audits
•Performing public tests of voting equipment before elections
•Assisting with election security and cybersecurity
•Training and supporting county election officials
•Investigating voting system issues when needed
Indiana law requires certain post-election audit procedures, and VSTOP often partners with county clerks and election boards to conduct those audits in a transparent, public setting.
Their role is essentially to provide independent oversight and technical verification that voting equipment and election results are functioning properly and accurately.
