Following a preliminary adoption on Aug. 24 of a resolution establishing an Economic Revitalization Area along North Main Street, the Scottsburg City Council will now hold a public hearing on whether to grant tax abatement for a proposed new housing development.
The hearing will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Monday Sept. 14, at city hall, according to a legal notice found on page 6 of this edition of the Times and online at crothersvilletimes.com.
The property is an vacant 2.306 acre parcel at 405 North Main Street owned by JAM Contractors LLC of Scottsburg. The company proposes to construct up to 15 two-story duplexes, to be known as “The Summit on Main” investing over $6.2 million in improvements.
The 30 residential dwelling units, together with an internal access road, parking, garages, concrete driveways, landscaping, green space, utilities, drainage facilities, and related site improvements will be completed in four phases.
During the public hearing the council will hear of the statement of benefits for the housing development as well as the amount of taxes proposed to be phased in over time.
A copy of Resolution No. 2026-R-6 and related materials may be examined at the office of the City Clerk-Treasurer at Scottsburg City Hall during regular business hours, the legal notice states.
