Aisin Drivetrain Inc., a Japan-based manufacturer of automotive and heavy equipment parts, announced plans to expand its Crothersville operations, creating up to 141 new jobs by the end of 2024.

Company representatives and Jackson County Industrial Development Executive Director Jim Plump were to attend the Sept. 7 Crothersville Town Council meeting to seek approval for tax abatements.

The auto parts manufacturer will invest more than $55 million to expand its 353,799-square-foot manufacturing operations at 1001 Industrial Way in Crothersville.

ADI, which manufactures automotive components and systems, will renovate and acquire new equipment to accommodate design changes for the Toyota Large Capacity Hybrid electric rear axle assembly (e-Four) and electric water pumps (EWP).

“These products support Aisin’s initiative to accelerate the electrification of vehicles to enhance fuel efficiency and reduce carbon emissions as steps to improve the environment,” said JCIDC’s Jim Plump.

“This is tremendous news for the Crothersville community,” said Crothersville Town Council President Jason Hillenburg. “We are excited and gratified that ADI has chosen to expand and grow its business here. For nearly 25 years, we have partnered with the Aisin companies in our community, and it is gratifying to see that partnership continue to grow, producing jobs and quality Aisin automotive products.”

“ADI is proud to be an active member of the Crothersville community and appreciates the continued support from Jason Hillenburg and the town council of Crothersville,” said Scott Shade, president for Aisin Drivetrain. “We strive to provide a stable, competitive and comfortable workplace for our members while providing our customers with ‘best in class’ products.”

According to state documents, ADI plans this year and next to invest $53 million in manufacturing equipment, $1.126 million in IT equipment, and $380,000 in logistic distribution equipment staring as early as next week.

ADI employs 422 at its facility in Crothersville and plans to begin hiring for Manufacturing, Quality, Logistics, and Professional positions immediately.

In addition to ADI, Aisin operates eight other companies in Indiana, including Aisin USA Manufacturing in Seymour, Aisin Chemical Indiana also in Crothersville, ATTC Mfg. in Tell City, ADVICS in Terre Haute, Aisin Logistics in Franklin, and INTAT Precision in Rushville.

The Indiana Economic Development Corporation offered Aisin Drivetrain Inc. up to $1.4 million in conditional tax credits based on the company’s job creation plans. These tax credits are performance-based, meaning the company is eligible to claim incentives once Hoosiers are hired.
