Since opening Oct. 1, 1996, the first industry to locate in the then new Crothersville Industrial Park, Aisin Drivetrain Inc. has given local residents employment and made giving back to the community a priority.

During last week’s Crothersville Town Council meeting, the manufacturing company was presented the certificate of appreciation for excellence in community service award for July.

Each month, the council recognizes a local resident, club, organization or business that is an outstanding citizen and goes above and beyond to give back to the community to help make Crothersville a great place to live.

Aisin Drivetrain manufactures a wide range of products for some of the most dynamic customers in the automotive and heavy equipment industry, including Toyota and Lexus. The products include industrial transmissions, power steering columns and electric water pumps.

ADI also is extremely active in the community, including cleaning up and gathering litter and debris from a section of U.S. 31 in Crothersville four times a year, promoting Earth Day by presenting a recycling program to local elementary school children, conducting a food and toy drive to benefit the community, participating in Jackson County United Way Day of Caring and volunteering for Habitat for Humanity.

ADI sponsors golf outings, helped remodel the restroom at the Crothersville Senior Citizens Center and supports Crothersville Community School Corp., Crothersville Parks and Recreation Department, Crothersville Youth League and Crothersville Police Department.

“They donate thousands of dollars to charity each year,” Town Council president Jason Hillenburg said. “Thank you for exemplifying positivity, dedication and generosity toward our community. For this, we are very grateful.”
