Towing a trailer with no license plate ended with a County Line Road resident going to jail on a variety of drug charges last week.

Scott County Sheriff’s Deputy Kacey Reschar was patrolling on East County Line road east of Underwood around 9:15 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 21 when he saw a vehicle pulling a trailer that had no license plate.

Jeremy Daniel Hutt

Pulling the vehicle over he identified the driver as Jeremy Daniel Hutt, 43, of the 800 block of East County Line Road, Underwood.

While the deputy questioned Hutt, he observed that Hutt was visibly sweating on his forehead and his voice was shaky, according to the probable cause affidavit.

The deputy retrieved his K9 partner, Karma, from his patrol vehicle and began a free air sniff of the exterior of Hutt’s vehicle. The dog alerted at the driver’s door of the vehicle.

Informing Hutt that K9 Karma gave a positive indication of drugs in the vehicle and that the deputy now had probable cause to search the vehicle, Hutt told the deputy “If you let me take the car down to the driveway to the house I will tell you where it is.”

When the deputy asked what was in the vehicle, Hut said that there was a meth pipe in the car in the front passenger seat, according to the court document.

When officers asked if he had any illegal drugs on him, Hutt told authorities that there was meth in his pocket. Officers retrieved a small black plastic container with a white crystal substance that later tested positive for methamphetamine.

Continuing their search of him, deputies located a small plastic baggie with a white powder in he front chest pocket of his overalls. The powder tested positive for cocaine.

After being placed in handcuffs, Hutt told officers that he also had Suboxone® in his wallet. Deputies retrieved two packages of the controlled substance from Hutt’s wallet.

Hutt was booked in to Scott County Jail at 10:07 p.m. and is facing felony charges of possession of methamphetamine, possession of cocaine and misdemeanor charges of possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. Scott Circuit Court Judge Jason Mount set Hutt’s bond at $25,000.
