A vehicle with a temporary tag folded to obscure the numbers caught attention of Austin police officers and resulted in drug charges for the vehicle’s occupants.

On late Friday afternoon, April 10, APD officer Josh Vires and reserve officer Kevin Saylers were on patrol on North High Street when they pulled over a dark colored Ford with a temporary license plate in the rear window that had been folded and obstructed its view.

After police pulled over the vehicle, the driver, Ethan Pierce, 28, of the 400 block of East Second Street in Seymour and his passenger, Brianna N. Organ, 23, of the 400 block of S. Railroad Street in Austin were both exhibiting erratic movement of their hands and head, Vires reported in the probable cause affidavit.

Scott County Sheriff’s Deputy Kyle West arrived with his K-9 partner Charley who conducted a free air sniff of the exterior of the vehicle and alerted officers to the presence of drugs inside the vehicle.

Inside the vehicle officers located two glass pipes with a white, burned residue, white powdery substance, marijuana, THC wax and a green in color smoking device.

APD officers booked Pierce and Organ into Scott County Jail where they each face a felony charge of possession of methamphetamine and misdemeanor charges of possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Scott Circuit Court Magistrate Alison Frazier set each bond at $15,000.
