An early morning traffic stop in Scottsburg ended up with two men going to jail on assorted drug charges on Monday, Feb. 26.
Scott County Sheriff’s Deputy Johnney Coomer was patrolling on US 31 and W. Lake Road on the city’s southside around 6:15 a.m. when he observed a vehicle driving erratically and commit a traffic violation.
Coomer pulled the vehicle over and spoke with the driver, Jerry G. Blythe Jr., 57, of South Jarin Court in Scottsburg.
Coomer’s investigation revealed that Blythe had no driver’s license and was in possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia.
A passenger in his vehicle, Edward T. Bowers, 58, also of South Jarin Court in Scottsburg, was also in possession of drugs and paraphernalia.
Both men were transported to Scott County Jail.
Blythe was charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, maintaining a common nuisance, and driving without a license.
Bowers was booked into jail for possession of methamphetamine, possession of a controlled substance, visiting a common nuisance, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
On Feb. 27 Scott Circuit Court Magistrate Alison T. Frazier set Blythe and Bowers bond at $15,000 each. Blythe bonded out of jail at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 29.
