Christopher M. Staggs of Seymour was convicted of dealing methamphetamine and was sentenced on Thursday, July 21, by Scott Circuit Court Judge Jason Mount to three years, all of which will be served in prison, according to Scott county Prosecutor Chris Owens. The Austin Police Department conducted controlled buys of methamphetamine with the use of a confidential informant that led to the conviction in this matter, Owens said
That same day, Shyanne Nicole Singh, 27, of Scottsburg was convicted of two counts of neglect of a dependent. Judge Mount sentenced her to nine years in the Department of Correction, five years will be served in prison, and she will be under the supervision of the Scott County Probation Department for four years after her release. Scottsburg Police Department handled the investigation.
Also that same day, Judge Mount sentenced Michael Langer, 24, of Austin was sentenced to six years for violating probation and committing a new criminal offense. He is to serve 4 years all in prison for violating the terms and conditions of his probation by committing the new criminal offenses.
He was also convicted of contributing to the delinquency of a minor and possession of methamphetamine and sentenced to an additional two and a half years in prison.
The new offenses were investigated by the Scott County Sheriff’s Office and the Scottsburg Police Department.
