The Indiana Sheriffs’ Association will be awarding college scholarships to qualified high school seniors and college students whop are pursing a degree in criminal; justice studies.
“There will be approximately 40 $750 scholarships awarded to students in the state,” according to Jackson County Sheriff Rick Meyer.
Scott County Sheriff Jerry Goodin encouraged interested students in Jackson and Scott County to apply.
The Indiana Sheriff’s Association Scholarship fund was established to help provide college scholarships to students committed to pursuing an education and career in law enforcement.
To qualify for a scholarship, applicants must be an Indiana resident, a child or grandchild of a member of the Sheriff’s Association, attend an Indiana college or university, and be a full-time enrolled student majoring in a law enforcement field.
Applications are available from the county sheriff or from a high school guidance counselor. The scholarship applications can also be downloaded from www.indianasheriffs.org. Applications must be received before April 1.
