Susan Carr, Preparedness Coordinator for the Scott County Health Department, recently provided the Sheriff’s Office with two Automated External Defibrillator Devices (AED), further enhancing the life-saving capabilities of emergency-responding deputies. That brings the number of donated AED devices from the Health Department to the Sheriff’s Office to four.
In 2024, Captain Johnney Coomer facilitated the first donation of two AEDs to the Sheriff’s Office from the Health Department. Captain Coomer advised “that if we had AEDs with us in our patrol vehicles, the possibility of immediately “delivering a shock” to a person suffering a heart attack may make the difference in saving a life. Now, with the two additional AEDs provided today, the Scott County Sheriff’s Office is better prepared to deliver critical care to someone if needed”.
“As first responders, having these devices in patrol vehicles makes sense, knowing that Sheriff Deputies were likely to be the first to arrive at emergency scenes in rural parts of the county. I offer my personal thanks to the Scott County Health Department for their partnership in serving our community”, said Chief Deputy Joe Guarneri.
