A Crothersville man reported to local police that he was robbed by another man with a taser on Saturday. Crothersville Police Officer Levi Caudill was contacted on Sunday, July 25, by the victim that a robbery that had happened the night before.
The man said he had been followed by another man who drew a taser, pointed it at him and accused him of stealing from him.
The victim told police the man pulled the trigger on the taser shooting one probe into his elbow. He said he then fell backwards striking his head and blacked out. When he came to he found that his cell phone had been taken, Caudill reported.
The victim identified his assailant as Derek Anthony Hendricks, 41, of Crothersville. Officer Caudill obtained a search warrant for the suspect’s residence at 300 S. Armstrong Street where Caudill reported he located the taser that was believed to be used in the robbery in addition to a used taser cartridge and drug paraphernalia.
Hendricks was placed under arrest and transported to the Jackson County Jail where he face charges of robbery, battery with bodily injury, and possession of paraphernalia.
He was released Saturday, July 31, at 3:38 a.m. after posting a $4,005 bond.
