A Las Vegas, Nevada man was arrested by Indiana State Police on Tuesday, March 7, on drug charges after cocaine and cash was seized during a traffic stop on I-65 near Seymour.
ISP Master Trooper Randel Miller made a traffic stop on a white Honda CRV on I-65 Southbound near the 51-mile marker around 12:30 p.m. During the traffic stop, Miller became suspicious that criminal activity was taking place. He deployed his K-9 ‘Bosco’ on the exterior of the vehicle. The dog alerted to the odor of illegal drugs somewhere in the vehicle.
During a search, troopers located approximately two kilograms of cocaine along with $8,000 in cash.
The driver, Jhonatan S. Carrillo, 27, Las Vegas, Nevada, was arrested and incarcerated in the Jackson County Jail on initial charges of dealing in cocaine, possession of cocaine, and driving without a license.
The suspected cocaine, cash, and Honda CRV were all seized as a part of the investigation. The estimated street value of the cocaine was $50,000, according to ISP Sgt. Stephen Wheeles.
In other arrests, on Saturday, March 4, Mark McCoskey, 49, of Pekin, was charged by Scott County Sheriff’s Deputies with possession of methamphetamine, possession of paraphernalia, maintaining a common nuisance, and possession of marijuana.
On Monday, March 6, Donald C. Huff Jr., 39, of Austin, Indiana was arrested by Scott County sheriff’s deputies for possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of marijuana and possession of a firearm by a felon.
On Wednesday, March 8, Austin Police officers arrested Brian Coats, 40, of Scottsburg for dealing methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine, possession of a syringe, possession of drug paraphernalia, maintaining a common nuisance, and resisting law enforcement.
