Austin residents will enjoy a day of Christmas cheer with this year’s annual Christmas Parade featuring a community Open House following the parade, according to Mayor Roger Hawkins. The Austin Christmas Parade will begin at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 3.
The Parade route will start on W Frontage Road located in the Industrial Park along I-65 and head south to State Road 256 (Main Street) then head east to the Jennings Township Volunteer Fire station located west of Austin City Hall.
Santa Claus will come to town in this year’s parade and he will be joined by Mrs. Claus, floats, and parade attractions. “There are many spots along Frontage Road and State Road 256 for residents to watch the parade,” said Mayor Hawkins.
Adults and children alike will enjoy the sounds of the Christmas season with a marching performance by the Austin High School band during the parade. In addition, there will be musical entertainment during the Open House following the parade.
The parade is sure to offer the usual set of participants including a host of classic cars, the AHS band, and a number of local church and civic groups.
Residents are encouraged to enjoy the parade route and the city’s holiday tradition. All residents are invited to attend the Open House following the Christmas parade at the local Fire Department.
