During the nation’s bicentennial in 1976, communities were encouraged to have a festival to celebrate the nation’s 200th birthday. Since most communities opted to hold July 4 gatherings, Crothersville chose to celebrate on Flag Day weekend. Fifty years later, Indiana’s Most Patriotic Festival tradition still continues.
