Three Scott County residents will be spending time in prison following convictions on drug charges, according to prosecutor Chris Owens.

Dennis M. Allman, 56, of Scottsburg was sentenced May 6 to 13 years in prison for dealing methamphetamine.
In June 2025 officers from the Scott County Probation Department and Scott County Sheriff’s office made a probation home visit to Allman’s South Slate Ford Road residence and discovered a large quantity of methamphetamine, other illegal drugs, drug paraphernalia, and multiple firearms.

Debra Smith, 56, of Scottsburg was sentenced on May 11 to six years in prison for possession of methamphetamine. Owens said the conviction stems from a February 19 traffic stop this year which deputies smelled marijuana coming from Smith’s vehicle and located over 10 grams of methamphetamine in her vehicle.

Also on May 11, Sally Stepp, 52, of Scottsburg had the remainder of her home detention sentence revoked to prison. Stepp was originally sentenced to six years in prison for possession of methamphetamine. During her time in prison she completed a drug treatment program and obtained a modification to her sentence allowing her to be released on home detention. However, Owens said, she removed her home detention monitor, violating the terms of her sentence.
Stepp will now serve the remainder of her sentence in prison for violating the terms of her release.
Deputy prosecutor Mark Kiesler handled the prosecution resulting in the three prison sentences.
