On Saturday, March 7, the Scottsburg FFA Chapter and Scottsburg High School hosted more than 200 FFA members and their advisors from 17 schools for the 2026 District XI Leadership Contest. The event also brought together over 100 judges and volunteers, who made it possible to host approximately 30 different leadership development contests throughout the day. Through these contests FFA members from all across the district were able to showcase their hard work and dedication in various contests.
In addition to host, Scottsburg FFA members also competed across a wide range of events, earning several top honors. First-place finishers who will advance to the state contest in June include Aubree Eldridge in Agricultural Sales Presentation, Marley Fleenor in Multimedia Scrapbook, and the Traditional Scrapbook committee of Aubree Eldridge, Madilyn Holliday, Addison Cheatham, and Megan Meyer. Several members also earned third-place finishes: Kylee Age and Mya Gibson in Horticulture Demonstration, and Emilee Thomas in Prepared Public Speaking.
Other Scottsburg FFA members who competed in the event include Mia Voiles in Agricultural and Farm Business Management Demonstration; Madilyn Holliday and Megan Meyer in Animal Science Demonstration; Eli Combs in Employability Skills; Megan Meyer in Extemporaneous Public Speaking; Addison Cheatham in Food Science Demonstration; Kyrie Joyce in Freshman Creed Speaking; Jackson Donohue and Clinton Stice in Natural Resources Demonstration; Brinley Wilson in Persuasive Essay; Josue Telles in Plant and Soil Demonstration; and Kylee Age, Mya Gibson, Emilee Thomas, and Landon Thomas as members of the Quiz Bowl team.
Additionally, the district recognized its first-place proficiency award winners, who were presented with plaques for their achievements. The following Scottsburg FFA members were recognized for placing first in their proficiency areas; Addison Cheatham in Beef Production Placement, Megan Meyer in Goat Production, Clinton Stice in Swine Production Entrepreneurship, and Josue Telles in Turf Grass Management. The Scottsburg FFA Chapter is very proud of all the members who competed and were recognized at the contest.
