The Jackson County Health Department has received a Public Health Service award for exceptional public health service delivery and community outreach from State Health Commissioner Lindsay Weaver, M.D., FACEP.

“Our 2025 awardee has built an exceptional and highly effective partnership with the Healthy Jackson County coalition, demonstrating what is possible when community organizations unite around a shared vision for better health,” former Indiana Department of Health Deputy Health Commissioner of Local Health Services Pam Pontones said. “By working side-by-side, these partners have created a united front dedicated to making the county a healthier, more vibrant place to call home. Their collaboration is a model for advancing public health in the state.”

The award was presented during Public Health Day at the Statehouse on Thursday, Feb. 12, where public health supporters from across Indiana celebrated the importance of efforts to improve health outcomes for all Hoosiers.
