Eight people were arrested by Scott County Sheriff’s Deputies last week in two separate incidents when methamphetamine, heroin were confiscated.

Deputies made a traffic stop on State Road 56 near Lake Road on the west side of Scottsburg last Tuesday afternoon, Nov. 15, that resulted in a large amount of methamphetamine and heroin found in the vehicle.

In addition to scales for weighing the drugs, deputies uncovered about 45 grams (1 1/2 ounces) of methamphetamine and 5 grams of heroin in the vehicle resulting in the arrest of the vehicle’s occupants on drug charges.

George R. Boyle Jr., 40, of Lexington was arrested for dealing in methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine, dealing in a narcotic drug possession of a narcotic drug, and maintaining a common nuisance.

Samantha R. Pastrick, 30, of North Shortridge Road in Indianapolis was charged with dealing methamphetamine, possession of a narcotic drug, and possession of a syringe.

Both were incarcerated in Scott County Jail.

In the early morning hours of Friday, Nov. 18, Scott County sheriff’s deputies served a search warrant at Austin Village Apartments in Austin as a result of a citizen tip of illegal drug activity.

During the search, deputies located heroin, methamphetamine, and drug paraphernalia that resulted in six people going to jail, according to Scott County Sheriff Jerry Goodin. “What was most upsetting to deputies was that two children were in the residence when the search warrant was conducted resulting in the neglect of dependent charges,” he said. The children were turned over to the care of Scott County Department of Child Services, he said.

Arrested were:

•Roger Winchester, 58, of Austin charged with dealing a narcotic drug, dealing methamphetamine, possession of a narcotic drug, possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a syringe, maintaining a common nuisance and neglect of a dependent.

•Danyelle Peacock, 29, of Austin was charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a syringe, maintaining a common nuisance and neglect of a dependent.

•Dustin Hines, 39, of Austin, Indiana was charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a syringe, maintaining a common nuisance and neglect of a dependent.

•Craig Watkins, 54, of Madison was charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a syringe, maintaining a common nuisance and neglect of a dependent.

•Ethan Eversole, 26, of Austin, was charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a syringe, maintaining a common nuisance and neglect of a dependent.

•His wife, Elizabeth Eversole, 21, of Austin was charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a syringe, maintaining a common nuisance and neglect of a dependent.

“This search warrant was conducted in an apartment complex where multiple families with children, elderly residents, and just honest law-abiding people reside, trying to live in peace and with a sense of security,” said Goodin. “A citizen tip resulted in drug dealers and users being sent to jail.”
