The Austin Lions Club is looking for new members. The club was chartered in April 1939 and has been an active contributor to the community for 83 years. The Lions mission is Eye Sight providing eyeglasses to those who need them at zero cost.
Some of their other projects include scholarships for graduating seniors, operation of the Little League and Softball program for over 50 years. They shepherd the Austin depot, as a meeting facility and a meeting facility that can be rented others for gatherings, celebrations, and parties. It accommodates approximately 30 people and has full kitchen and bathrooms.
“We are always ready to get involved in any local cause,” said Lion President Ismael White. “Our most recent outreach was to support the only barbershop in town, when their building burned. Lions club member quickly to take action to find a faculty, while the building was being rebuilt.” They opened up the train depot for the barbershop’s temporary use.
