An off-duty Indiana State Police Trooper working security at an Austin apartment complex initiated a drug investigation that sent two people to jail last week, according to ISP Sgt. Carey Huls.
Around 11:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 26, Senior Trooper Mark LaMaster was working an off-duty security job at the Austin Village Apartments when he learned of possible drug activity in one of the complex’s townhouses. LaMaster and ISP Trooper Kyle Taylor went to the townhouse and met the tenant, 57-year-old Richard Hall.
Through the open door LaMaster saw Dusty Kallembach, 43, of Austin, whom the trooper knew had been issued a no trespass order from the property. While speaking with Richard Hall, the officers also observed drug paraphernalia in plain view.
As the investigation continued, officers eventually conducted a search of the apartment and located about a gram of methamphetamine, digital scales, drug paraphernalia, marijuana, and a syringe. Around four grams of meth was also located on Kallembach.
Richard Hall faces charges of dealing methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine, possession of a syringe, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of marijuana.
Kallembach faces charges of dealing methamphetamine and possession of methamphetamine.
The pair was incarcerated in Scott County Jail.
