Serving a Scott County court warrant for failure to appear in court for possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia landed a Crothersville man in Jackson County Jail on the same charges last Wednesday morning.

At 8:30 a.m. on Oct. 7, Crothersville Police officer Samuel Hughes went to 308 W. Main Street to serve the warrant on Charles Michael Miller, age 57, according to the probable cause affidavit.
The police officer was met at the door by the homeowner Karen Hernandez who called for Miller to come downstairs.
As Miller came down the stairs Officer Hughes instructed him to go outside with him. Miller refused and the officer placed him in handcuffs and walked him outside.
Hughes performed a routine search prior to transporting Miller to Scott County Jail. In a fanny pack Miller was wearing Hughes found a cloth container with a glass pipe with a white powdery substance and a small zip lock bag containing a crystal-like substance which tested positive for methamphetamine.
Rather than take Miller to Scott County Jail on the warrant, Hughes arrested Miller for possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was booked in to Jackson County Jail at 9:35 a.m.
After he faces charges in Jackson Circuit Court, he will be transported to Scott County to face the same charges as well as failure to appear in court.
