An Austin father & son and a man from Seymour were charged by Crothersville Police with possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia on May 25 following a routine traffic stop.
According to CPD officer Levi Caudill, he and Reserve Officer Mike Weiler were on patrol shortly after 5 p.m. when they observed a green BMV fast approaching them from the rear.
The police officer pulled over allowing the BMW to pass and he ran the vehicle’s plate which came back to a 2006 white Chevrolet pickup truck.
Caudill pulled the BMV over on Co Rd 600 S near 625 E.
The driver, identified as Dennis M. Allman, 50, of Austin told officers he was aware of improper plate from his pickup on the BMW telling officers he had purchased the car recently and placed the truck plate on the vehicle so he could drive it.
Caudill asked the three occupants to get out of the vehicle. The front seat passenger was identified as James Edwin Lowe, 33, of Seymour and the rear seat passenger was Dennis Marshall Allman, 20 of Austin. The Allmans are father & son.
The senior Allman gave Caudill and Weiler permission to search his vehicle while CPD Chief Matt Browning stayed with the three men.
During the search Officer Weiler located a bag with a white substance that field tested positive for methamphetamine as well as glass pipe that is commonly used to smoke meth. Weiler also located a blue pipe in the trunk of the car that is commonly used to smoke marijuana.
After being placed into custody, all three men denied ownership of the meth or the drug paraphernalia, Caudill reported.
All three men were charged with possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia and incarcerated in Jackson County Jail around 7 p.m.
