The Jackson County K-9 officers are seeking homes, businesses, farms, wooded parcels, commercial locations, warehouses to help provide real-world training for police dogs, according to Sgt. Ben Rudolph, K9 Commander for the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office.
“To ensure our service dogs can perform at their highest level, they must be exposed to as many diverse, real-world environments as possible,” said Rudolph. “Training Solely in controlled law enforcement facilities limits a dog’s adaptability. Exposing them to unfamiliar layouts, varying ambient noises, different flooring types, and unique spatial challenges is essential for building their confidence and problem-solving skills in the field.”
We are currently looking for property owners, local businesses, or community members who would be willing to allow our K9 units and regional K9 teams to utilize their buildings and grounds for training exercises.
What we are looking for:
•Safety First: The buildings only need to be structurally safe and secure for training personnel and the K9s. Outside property and grounds need to be safe and free of any hazards such as uncovered wells, as any outside property will be used primarily for tracking/trailing purposes.
•Variety: Residential housing (single or multi-family), warehouses, commercial spaces, offices, retail spaces, or any other indoor facility is greatly appreciated.
•Flexibility: We will work around your schedule to ensure minimal to no disruption to your property or business.
“Our K9 handlers maintain strict control of their dogs at all times, and we treat every location we use with utmost respect and care,” assured Rudolph.
