LEGAL NOTICE
Legal Notice of Public Hearing
Notice is hereby given that the Scott County Board of Zoning Appeals will hold a public hearing at the Scott County Courthouse 1 E. McClain Avenue, Room 128, Scottsburg, IN on Wednesday, April 14, 2021, at 6:00 PM at which time all interested persons will be given the opportunity to be heard in reference to the matters set out in the “Description of Action Requested” below:
Case Number: V-07-21
Applicant(s): William and Debra Douglas
Owner(s): William and Debra Douglas
Present Zoning: A – Agriculture
Description of Action Requested: Variance required from 30-foot setback standard set in the Scott County Zoning Ordinance due to the configuration of applicants’ property. They wish to build a 24×26 pole barn/garage with a 12×24 open lean-to for storage and vehicle use, leaving a side property line setback of six (6) feet.
Description of Property Affected: Parcel no. 72-02-35-300-028.000-004 being 2.085 acres and cka 3315 East State Road 256, Austin, IN 47102
Reason(s) necessitating request: The property’s narrow configuration near applicants’ current home plus sloping ground and a creek on north and east sides prevent applicants from adhering to normal setback standards. Setting the new building in the proposed site will allow them to use the current driveway for access as well as avoid disturbance of lateral septic lines. A shed will be moved to accommodate the new building.
The petition (application) and file on this matter are available for public inspection during the regular working hours of the Scott County Courthouse, 1 E. McClain Avenue, Scottsburg, IN, Suite G40 until two business days prior to the hearing date. (812-752-8445, ext. 1)
