Everyone who enjoys wildlife will find something of interest at the Wings Over Muscatatuck festival May 12-14.

Friday programs will include a birding van tour from 8 a.m.-noon (by advance reservation only) and a Big Tree Walk at 1:30 p.m.

Saturday programs will feature a morning Bird Walk at 8 a.m., Birdhouse Building for Kids from 8:30 a.m.-10 a.m., a guided tour to view an eagle nest at 8:30 a.m. (by reservation & by space available), a Hawk and Eagle program with live birds at 9:30 a.m., and Children’s Activities from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

A Native Plant Sale will go on from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (or until the plants are gone). At 10:30 a.m. there will be another guided tour to view an eagle nest (by reservation & by space available).

Lunch will be available for purchase from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. At 11 a.m. a Wildlife Refuge Officer and Canine Officer Teal will do a “meet and greet” program, and at 11:30 a.m. there will be a Bird Cake Walk.

At 12:30 p.m. there will be a Recognition Ceremony for student winners of the Indiana Junior Duck Stamp Contest, and at 1:30 p.m. there will be an Owls of Indiana program with live birds.

The last guided tour of the day to view an eagle nest will be at 2:30 p.m. (by reservation & space available), and at 2:30 pm there will also be a program on Bats of Indiana.

The only program on Sunday will be a half-day guided tour of Big Oaks National Wildlife Refuge (near Madison) and pre-registration for that tour is required. Big Oaks is only open to visitors on certain days and the guided tour will be a rare opportunity to experience the refuge with the staff that know it best.
