The deadline to register to vote in the Nov. 4 general election is Monday, Oct. 6, according to Amanda L. Lowery, Clerk of the Jackson Circuit Court.
“Applications must be received by the clerk’s office or postmarked by October 6,” she said noting voter registration closes on October 6 and will not reopen until December 1.
The clerk said absentee voting in the Courthouse will begin on Tuesday, Oct. 7.
“Any registered voter may apply for and vote an absentee ballot,” said the clerk.
The last date to vote an absentee ballot is by noon on Monday, Nov. 3.
“Each voter must present a valid Indiana or US government issued photo id card before voting,” she said.
Hours for voting at the Brownstown Courthouse are as follows:
Weekdays from Tuesday, Oct. 7 to Friday, Oct. 31 from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Monday Nov. 3, from 8 a.m. to noon.
Also Saturdays Oct. 25 and Nov. 1 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Hours for voting at the Seymour Courthouse are as follows:
Monday thru Friday, Oct. 20-31 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Monday, Nov. 3 from 8 a.m. to noon
Also Saturdays Oct. 25 and Nov. 1 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Applications from confined voters and voters who are out of the county are also being accepted at this time. Traveling Board for confined voters will begin on October 23 and end on November 3 at 11:59 pm.
All absentee applications requesting a mailed ballot must be received by Monday Oct. 27 by 11:59 p.m., the clerk said.
“All persons who are registered to vote and interested in voting absentee are encouraged to apply as soon as possible,” said Lowry.
