Results of last Tuesday’s Primary Election in contested races in the Jackson County Republican Primary, Dustin Steward received the GOP nomination for Jackson County Sheriff receiving 3,109 votes out-polling Roger Drew with 2,012 and Mark Holt with 580.
In the District 3 county commissioner’s race incumbent Andrew Stauffer defeated Roger Bane 2,673 to 2,507.
In District County Council races for the GOP, Jake Brown won the District 1 nomination over Harold G. Davidson 1,069 to 458. In District 3, Bri Roll won the nomination with 454 votes over Brandon Joray’s 439 and Jonathon Tabor’s 194.
Incumbent Republican Melanie Pottschmidt won the nomination for Brownstown Township Trustee over challenger Teresa Stuckwisch. Pottschmidt polled 559 votes to Stuckwisch’s 403.
In the GOP race for Pershing Township Trustee, challenger Chris Gilbert defeated incumbent Sharon Kay Yost 142-88.
There were no challenged races on the Democrat ticket in Jackson County.
In contested races in last Tuesday’s Primary election in Scott County, Scott Zellers won the GOP nomination for Scott County Sheriff to face Democrat Joe Guarneri in the fall. Zellers polled 1,089 votes to Shan S. Mayer’s 425.
Guarneri was unopposed on the Democratic ticket.
Incumbent Republican County Auditor Jennifer Rode-Hamelman was upset in her re-election bid. GOP challenger Kristi Richie Johnson received 883 votes to Hamelman’s 559 to win the Republican nomination.
In the only other Republican county race, incumbent John M. Collins turned back a challenge from James (Brad) Stotts 308-152 for the District 3 county council post.
In Lexington Township, former Democrat township trustee Danny Basham won the Republican nomination for trustee with 111 votes over incumbent Debby Hubbard’s 57 and Jack Cochran’s 37.
