Contractors for the Indiana Department of Transportation plan to close two area highways for bridge and culvert replacement starting as early as next week.
Indiana Department of Transportation contractor Dave O’Mara Contractor Inc. plans begin work in mid-August to replace a bridge over Horse Lick Creek, located just west of the Dudleytown Conservation Club on SR 250 in Jackson County.
On or after Monday, Aug. 14, S.R. 250 will close west of Dudleytown for up to 120 days, through mid-December. The bridge is located between County Road 600 E and 475 E. During the closure, traffic will be routed along the official detour, which follows U.S. 50 and I-65.
At the same time in Scott County INDOT contractor OLCO, Inc. plans to begin work to replace a box culvert on S.R. 56/3 in Scott County.
The combined state highway of 56 & 3 east of Scottsburg will close between Shea Rd. and Turley Rd. for up to 30 days as crews replace a culvert. The closure will take place just under a mile west of the junction of S.R. 3 and S.R. 56 in Blocher. Local residents will have access up to the point of closure.
During the closure, thru traffic will be routed along the official detour, which follows S.R. 203 and S.R. 256. This is the second replacement project on the $795,000 contract. Work was completed on S.R. 203 in May.
