Two men were arrested Tuesday afternoon, Oct. 15, after they were caught next to an active methamphetamine lab in Scott County, police report.
Christopher D. Axsom, 31, of Columbus and Dustin A. Evans, 23, of North Vernon both face charges of possession of methamphetamine and possession of precursors used in the manufacture of methamphetamine, according to Sgt. Jerry Goodin with the Indiana State Police.
The pair were arrested after troopers and Scott County officers went to a residence at 3235 Hardy Lake Road, just north of State Road 256 in Johnson Township, looking for an active meth lab and a person wanted on an outstanding warrant, said Goodin.
He said troopers reported that when they approached the residence they saw two people behind the home near an outbuilding. They were standing by an active meth lab, he said.
Both were arrested, and police said they found items commonly used in the production of meth in the area.
The state police meth lab team came to the residence to dismantle and clean up the lab.
The wanted person the officers were looking for was not at the residence, Goodin said.
