Jackson ‘Jay’ McGinnis
An Indiana State Police Trooper stopped a maroon Ford Explorer on Dowling Drive in Austin around 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 18, after the vehicle was observed making several driving infractions. During the traffic stop a K-9 unit from the Scott County Sheriff’s Department was called to the scene. After the police dog alerted for possible drugs in the vehicle, a search was completed resulting in police locating nearly a half of an ounce of methamphetamine in the vehicle.
The driver, Jackson Lee ‘Jay’ McGinnis, 36, of 4559 North Whitsitt Road, Austin, was taken into custody by police. A search warrant was obtained for the residence following which police located more methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. McGinnis, was incarcerated at the Scott County Jail on the charge of possession of over 10 grams of methamphetamine with the intent to deliver. Other charges are pending, according to ISP spokesperson Sgt. Jerry Goodin.
