Troopers with the Indiana State Police charged two Austin residents with a variety of drug charges following a traffic stop in northeast Austin.
Last Friday evening, March 15, ISP officers stopped James ‘Jimmy’ Barnett, 33, of Austin, was stopped while driving a blue 1994 GMC pickup truck on Rural Street near Third Street in Austin, with expired license plates and he was also driving left of center, according to ISP Sgt. Jerry Goodin.
During the traffic stop, a syringe and other paraphernalia were in plain view in the passenger floorboard of the truck. A search of the vehicle resulted in troopers arresting Barnett and his passenger, Lindsay Cole, 30, of Austin.
Barnett was charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of syringe, possession of controlled substance, maintaining common nuisance, and driving under the influence.
Cole was charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of syringe, possession of controlled substance, maintaining common nuisance.
Both were incarcerated at the Scott County Jail.
