A 50-year old Crothersville man was charged with possession or methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia following a routine traffic stop in Austin on Monday night, July 15.
Dereck A. Hurt of the 100 block of South Bethany Road was stopped by Austin Police officer Anthony White for a traffic violation.
White reported that as Hurtt was handing him his driver’s license his hands were shaking, he was speaking quickly, stuttering and had pinpoint pupils, according to the probable cause affidavit.
In searching the vehicle officers located a glass pipe with a black burned substance that tested positive for methamphetamine.
After placing Hurtt under arrest he advised the officer that he had a small amount of meth in his wallet.
Hurtt was incarcerated at Scott County Jail at 9:58 p.m. His cash bond was set at $1,500.
