Crothersville Utility workers will be flushing fire hydrants next Wednesday, June 1, according to water superintendent Chris Mains.
The procedure, which removes rusts and sediments from water mains is done periodically.
“Additionally, the flushing allows the utility to find and repair faulty fire hydrants in the community,” said Mains.
The work will begin at 8 a.m. and continue throughout the day until all lines have been flushed.
“We recommended residents not do laundry during this time to prevent the possibility of staining clothing due to rust and other sediment in the water,” he said. “The water should be cleared by Thursday morning.”
