The Crothersville Town Council handled routine business matters when they met Nov. 2 tabling several spending matters until additional information is obtained.

In approved requests, the council okayed spending a $5,621 contribution from Cerrowire that the company earmarked for a children’s wooden pirate ship. The new playground equipment will be placed at Veteran’s Park  along Main Street and Pennsylvania Avenue in Crothersville.

The council approved spending $15,000 from CEDIT (County Economic Development Income Tax) fund to pay for a portion of the recently installed culvert project in from of the Marathon station on Armstrong Street on the south side of town.

The council tabled some decisions seeking to obtain additional information.

A request by the Crothersville Police Department for new computers was deferred until additional pricing and comparisons can be obtained.

Also tabled was a request to contract with a company who specializes in archiving social media. The council delayed a decision until additional alternatives and costs can be obtained.

Also delayed was a decision to switch the 194 town street lights from sodium vapor to more energy efficient LED. Councilman Jamy Greathouse said he supports the switch to save energy costs but wants more time to study the proposed numbers to determine how long the payback will be for the town for cost of LED lights versus the monthly costs to the town for electricity.

The council appointed councilman Aaron Mays to the town’s Unsafe Building and Nuisance Board.
