Three Jackson County residents– a mother and step-father from Seymour and a man from Freetown— were arrested last Friday, Sept. 16, on charges of child molesting.
On Friday, Sept. 2, Scott County Sheriff’s Deputy Toby Deaton and Detective Jacklyn Shofner responded to a Scottsburg hotel after an anonymous tip was received that a child was possibly being molested at the motel.
When they arrived, the Scott County law enforcement officers located the parents, identified as Robin English, 22, and Christopher Greene, 46, both from Seymour and two young children at the motel.
The Scott County Department of Child Services was notified and DCS removed the children, placing them in a safe environment.
According to Scott County Sheriff Jerry Goodin, English and Greene were interviewed at the Scott County Sheriff’s Office in Scottsburg regarding the information received that a child in their care was allegedly being molested. “After multiple interviews over the next several days, it was discovered that both Robin English (the mother of the child) and Christopher Greene (the stepfather of the child) knew the child was allegedly being molested by James Anderson, 36, of Freetown,” said Goodin.
Authorities also learned that English, Greene, and Anderson were living in motels in Jackson County before coming to Scott County where they were caught, according to the sheriff.
The investigation was referred to Scott County Prosecutor Chris Owens who sought and obtained warrants on Thursday, Sept. 15, for the arrest of the Jackson County trio.
Robin English and Christopher Greene face charges of two counts of neglect of dependent, two counts of child molesting, performing sexual conduct in the presence of a minor and failure to make a report.
James Anderson faces charges of two counts of child molesting, and performing sexual conduct in the presence of a minor.
All three were incarcerated in Scott County Jail where Circuit Court Judge Jason Mount set their bail at $250,000 cash only bond
“It was an anonymous tip from a concerned citizen about this appalling situation,” said Sheriff Goodin. “I want to publicly thank the anonymous citizen. Because of this tip, a child is no longer being harmed”.
