The only three properties on last Friday’s Jackson County Commissioners’ Certificate Sale were in Crothersville and all three found willing buyers.
After going through two delinquent property tax sales and receiving no bid, the commissioners opted to place the properties on a sale with a minimum bid of $200. The certificate sale is a method of getting the properties back on the tax rolls and generating property tax income for the town, school, township, and county.
The property at 302 W. Walnut Street in the name of Louis B. & Leah D. Rusch was sold for $700 to Andrew J. Weimer of Brownstown.
The property at 105 Marshall Drive in the name of Roscoe & Kayla Peacock was sold to Loren D. Lee of Crothersville for $6,000.
The property at 506 S. Park Avenue in the name of David M. Coombs was sold to Travis Jones of Scottsburg for $1,500.
There were seven bidders registered for the sale that was held in the historic courthouse in Brownstown.
