Get ready for Fish-Tastic fun at the Muscatatuck National Wildlife Refuge in Seymour at the annual ‘Take A Kid Fishing Day’ this Saturday, Sept. 26, 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Free fishing fun and more for the entire family hosted by the Muscatatuck Wildlife Society friends group in conjunction with Indiana’s Fall Free Fishing Day.
The fun includes a Kids Fishing Contest for kids 15 and under at Discovery Pond with trophies and cash prizes for the biggest fish winners. Free live bait and fishing poles to borrow will be provided.
At the Refuge Visitor Center there will be a kids casting contest with more prizes, along with kids fish crafts. Kids can enter to win a fishing pole and there will be a free grilled hot dog lunch for everyone.
And be sure mark your calendar for even more fall fun at the Muscatatuck National Wildlife Refuge because Saturday, Oct. 10, 10am-2pm, is the annual “Log Cabin Day” festival at the Refuge’s historic Myers Cabin when everyone can experience what life was like back in the frontier days of the late 1880s with live old-time music, historic storytelling, pioneer demonstrations, children’s activities, a free ham and bean lunch and more.
