Sedam Contracting of Hanover was awarded the contract to mill and re-pave four Crothersville Streets. The approval took place at a special town council meeting on Monday, June 17.
Sedam bid $56,250 to re-surface Moore Street from US 31 to Preston, Bard Street from US 31 to Seymour Road, Howard Street from US 31 to the Railroad and Main Street from US 31 to the railroad.
The milling operation is to begin Monday. Motorists should be aware that some streets may be closed as work continues.
Bids were opened at the town council’s June 4 meeting. Lawyer excavating of Seymour bid $102,065 for the work, Dave O’Mara of North Vernon bid $62,105, All Star Paving of Seymour bid $60,910 and Temple & Temple of Salem bid $57,100 for the work.
In other matters:
•The town council gave their approval for Chief of Police Richard Hanlin to work at a part-time job in Crothersville.
•The council hired Jeff Lorenzo as the new town attorney to replace a retiring John Rothring. Lorenzo has formerly served as county attorney, and attorney for the city of Seymour. His law partner Susan Bevers is currently the Jackson County attorney.
