An added event at this year’s Crossroads Acoustic Fest in Seymour will be a songwriting workshop at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 29, at the Knights of Columbus, 118 E. Second St.
The workshop, which is free and open to the public, will be led by Robert Reynolds with special guests Brit Taylor and Adam Chaffins.
Reynolds was one of the founding members of the Grammy Award Winning band, The Mavericks, that won many awards including ACM and CMA awards.
Taylor released her latest album, “Kentucky Blue,” in February, and she has garnered praise for her “traditional country and reflective songwriting.”
Chaffins is an award-winning songwriter and in-demand bassist. He was named one of the best new artists playing Americanafest in 2019, and his debut solo album, “Some Things Won’t Last,” was released in 2020.
All three of the workshop presenters will perform their music at the Acoustic Fest, Friday night and Saturday night, April 28 and 29, at various venues in downtown Seymour. Tickets for all festival performances are available at the Jackson County Visitor Center in Seymour or at crossroadsacousticfest.com.
The songwriting workshop will be followed by the Larry McDonald Memorial Guitar Show from noon until 4 p.m. Saturday.
Area residents will display their guitars or other stringed instruments in rented booth spaces at the Knights of Columbus and may buy, sell, or trade items. Pat Sullivan will give a luthier presentation at 1 p.m.
All proceeds from the event will benefit the Larry McDonald Band Fund that provides financial assistance for purchase or rental of band instruments at Seymour High School.
McDonald, longtime owner of This Old Guitar Music Store in downtown Seymour, passed away in 2021.
