Grant Mason Comer, a member of the Scottsburg FFA, was awarded the American FFA Degree at the 96th National FFA Convention in Indianapolis held earlier in November. Comer graduated from Scottsburg High School in 2022 and is the son of Brent & Pam Comer of Scottsburg. Anna Hall is the Scottsburg FFA Chapter Advisor.
He was a four year member of the Scottsburg FFA chapter serving as Chapter Treasurer, Sentinel, and Chaplain as well as District XI Sentinel.
Comer is one of only eleven Scottsburg FFA members to ever receive this top national award in the chapter’s 77- year history.
Less than one percent of FFA members achieve the American FFA Degree. Comer’s supervised agricultural experience project included raising beef cattle on his family’s farm.
Each recipient of the American FFA Degree receives a gold American FFA Degree key and certificate after being recognized at the national convention.
The American FFA Degree is bestowed upon a select group of students in recognition of their years of academic and professional excellence. This year over 4,400 American Degrees were awarded.
