A Scottsburg couple has been charged in Jackson Circuit Court with level 2 felonies of dealing methamphetamine.

Tony Eugene Perry, 48, and Rebecca Marie Perry, 33, both of the 100 block of Washington Street in Scottsburg were arrested by Seymour Police K9 Officer Justin Hammond and Cpl. Kayla Griffin Saturday evening, Oct. 11.
Around 5 p.m. that day, Officer Hammond saw a white Nissan with a very obscured read window that reduced visibility pull out onto US 50 from the TA Truck Stop. The driver of the vehicle was Tony Perry, a person known to police for dealing drugs in previous investigations, according to Hammond.
Hammond pulled the Perry vehicle over on US 31 north of US 50 and prepared to write a warning citation for the window violation.
After Hammond was joined by Cpl. Griffin, he had the vehicle occupants get out of their vehicle. Hammond then had his K9 partner Lewa do a free air sniff around the Perry vehicle. The K9 officer alerted on the front passenger door and driver side fender.
After Hammond returned Lewa to his vehicle, he saw Rebecca Perry remove something from her bra and tried to hand it to Tony. The officer could see she had a tied plastic bag containing a crystal like substance. After handcuffing the pair, Cpl. Griffin noticed a large bag of what later tested positive for methamphetamine on the ground behind Tony.
Interrogated at the Seymour Police Station, Rebecca Perry told officers that Tony had arranged the drug pick up.
According to the probable cause affidavit, Tony sent Rebecca into the TA Truck Stop women’s restroom where the meth was hidden inside the tampon dispenser. Perry told police that they were getting paid $100 to transport the drug to an address in Country Squire Lakes in North Vernon. Rebecca said that Tony frequently uses her to transport drugs as “she has more places to hide it”, according to the court document.
According to Rebecca, Tony paid $400 for the meth and intended to sell it for up to $600. She told police that Tony is not employed but will have extra money that she believes comes from him selling drugs, according to the probable cause document.
Hammond talked to Tony Perry who continued to deny knowing anything about the methamphetamine, according to the probable cause affidavit.
The Perry’s were found to have over 115 grams (more than a quarter pound) of methamphetamine.
The pair were booked into Jackson County Jail around 7:30 p.m. facing charges of possession of methamphetamine and dealing methamphetamine.
Tony Perry was released from jail at 7:53 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 14. As of the Times’ press deadline, Rebecca Perry remains incarcerated.
