Jonathan Tearl Sizemore, 34, of Scottsburg is headed to prison to serve an eight year sentence for Criminal Confinement, Domestic Battery, and for violating his probation, according to Scott County Prosecutor Chris Owens. After serving years of this sentence in prison, he will serve the final three years on probation.
Following the plea agreement last month, Scott Circuit Court Judge Jason Mount imposed the sentence last Thursday, March 18.
On July 22, 2020 officers with the Scott County Sheriff’s Department were dispatched to investigate a domestic battery complaint and assist the victim. Deputies learned that an altercation occurred between Jonathan Sizemore and the victim. While committing the battery, Sizemore refused to allow the victim to escape the situation, and this resulted in the criminal confinement charge.
“These crimes occurred in the presence of a young child,” Owens said.
“People who commit domestic battery and people who violate probation must be held accountable for their actions,” said Owens. “We will not tolerate actions like those of Mr. Sizemore and we will see that justice is served for these types of cases.”
