On Friday, May 19, James White of Scottsburg was convicted and sentenced to 13 1/2 years in the Indiana Department of Correction for committing a variety different offenses, according to Scott County Prosecutor Chris Owens. He was sentenced to two and a half years in prison for each of the following crimes: domestic battery, receiving stolen auto parts, and possession of methamphetamine. He received an additional six year sentence in prison for dealing in methamphetamine.
“The Scott County Prosecutor’s Office is working hard to end the days of career criminals in Scott County,” said Owens. “We are working to hand out lengthy prison sentences for people who have continued to prey off the citizens of our community.”
Owens said the Scott County Sheriff’s Office and the Indiana State Police handled the investigation that led to the charges and convictions. Deputy Prosecutor Mark Kiesler handled the case for the prosecution.
