Last Friday, May 20, Mason Steinkamp, 58, of Scottsburg was sentenced by Scott Circuit Court Judge Jason Mount to 10 years in prison for dealing methamphetamine, according to Scott County Prosecutor Chris Owens.
From December 3, 2020 to January 22, 2021, officers from the Scott County Sheriff’s Office conducted four controlled buys from Mason Steinkamp through the use of a confidential informant. Based on those undercover purchases, a search warrant was requested and served for Steinkamp’s residence. That search led officers to discover more than 50 grams of methamphetamine and several prescription pills located in Steinkamp’s residence, Owens said.
“Steinkamp is just one of several repeat offenders who have been sentenced to prison in the last few weeks,” said the prosecutor.
The Scott County Sheriff’s Office handled the investigation; Deputy Prosecutor Mark Kiesler led the prosecution in obtaining the conviction, Owens reported.
