A Scottsburg man has been charged in Jackson Circuit Court with dealing methamphetamine, dealing cocaine, and possession of psychedelic mushrooms after his arrest in Seymour before Christmas.
Jordan Michael Hensley, 38, of Scottsburg faces three felony charges along with a misdemeanor charge of driving under the influence of drugs.
According to the probable cause affidavit filed by Seymour Police Officer Chris Cooper, on Saturday, Dec. 23, around 9 a.m. he observed Hensley’s vehicle driving erratically and weaving from lane to lane on East Tipton Street (US 50) on the city’s east side.
After pulling him over and administering a breathalyzer test, Hensley was found to have no alcohol in his system. However, the court document related that he failed several field sobriety tests. After placing him under arrest for driving under the influence, Cooper searched Hensley locating a plastic bag inside his pants.
Removing the plastic bag down his inner right pant leg, the officer said it contained several smaller bags which later tested positive for methamphetamine (14 grams) and cocaine (6.6 grams) and mushrooms (7.5 grams).
Hensley also had a large sum of cash in his wallet, according to the court document.
After authorities took him to Schneck Medical Center for a blood draw, Hensley was transported and booked into Jackson County Jail in Brownstown at 10:38 a.m. where he is being held on a $100,005 bond.
According to the court record, Jackson County Prosecutor Jeffrey Chalfant filed charges Dec. 27 and is seeking enhanced penalties for Hensley due to his prior drug conviction.
