The City of Scottsburg has announced the implementation of a new sanitation program designed to improve service efficiency and maintain cleaner neighborhoods. As part of this program, trash collection routes may be changing. All residents are encouraged to review their updated pickup information before the new routes go into effect on Monday, June 9.

To view your updated collection day and learn more about the new program, residents should visit: https://www.cityofscottsburg.com/trash/

In order to ensure successful implementation of the new system, residents are reminded to follow sanitation guidelines and avoid common violations, including:

•Trash container lid not completely closed

•Use of an improper container or items not properly bagged

•Obstructions preventing access to the trash can

•Placement of items excluded from residential pickup

•Presence of hazardous or flammable materials

•Inclusion of yard waste (not accepted in standard trash pickup)

To allow time for adjustment, the City will observe a violation grace period. Beginning Monday, June 16, any container found in violation of these policies will be marked with a brightly colored violation sticker and will not be collected until the issue has been resolved.
