Scottsburg City Council passed on first reading at their regular meeting on Sept. 25 a change in the rules and regulations of the parks and other recreational areas.

“On several occasions, we’ve had some activities this summer that have been inappropriate behavior at Parks would be a fair way of putting it that have lead to some arrests,” said City Attorney Josh Stigdon.

Stigdon said that the ordinance would allow the Scottsburg City police to give more authority and make it clear what can and can not be done at the local parks.

Council President Ric Manns asked Scottsburg Chief of Police David Hardin if the ordnance was needed which Hardin responded “Yes” with no hesitation.

The Council voted to pass the ordinance with Chris Albertson not present during the time of the vote.
