Scott County School District 2 Board of Trustees announced the resignation of Chief Financial Officer Chris Routt at their regular meeting on June 10.
On March 12, Routt accepted the position as the new CFO for District 2 after it was revealed that the Indiana State Board of Accounts had been looking into the school district’s overspending of $4-5 million
Routt said that there was nothing bad financially going on in the district. He said his reason resigning was that he no longer desired to work in the public sector.
His resignation will be affective as of June 21.
In his time with the school district, he has been able to help the school come up with a 3-year plan to get the school back to financial stability, create a model of stability for preschool, project the salary increases on the budget, use existing staff to fill vacancies and finally lower operation expenses, he said.
District 2 Superintendent Marc Slaton said for the new position of assistant superintendent for business and operations, he hoped would be someone who could be an assistant superintendent with some business background in finance of school corporations.
