Lieutenant Charlie Morgan and Deputy Kacey Reschar of the Scott County Sheriff’s Office were recognized at the annual Indiana Sheriff’s Association Conference held in French Lick, on Wednesday, July 19, both presented with “Life-Saving Awards”.

Lieutenant Morgan was involved in two separate life-saving events in 2022. The first was in April when he rescued a young child who had choked on food and was not responsive. Lieutenant Morgan was able to dislodge the food item, allowing the child to resume breathing.

In November 2022, Lieutenant Morgan and Deputy Kacey Reschar provided life-saving CPR to a Scott County resident who had suffered a heart attack, providing care to the patient until EMS personnel arrived at the scene.

Both deputies were lauded by Sheriff Jerry Goodin for their efforts. “This is another example of what Scott County Sheriff’s Deputies do when called to the aid of a citizen… they provide breath for a child who can’t breathe and a pulse to a stricken heart,” said Goodin. “I am proud of these men and all of those heroes who serve our county in service to our citizens”.
