Scott County Visitor’s Commission presented prizes to the winners of the inaugural Scarecrow contest on Oct. 25.

Commissioner Randy Julian presented the idea during a Scott County Board of Commissioners meeting for the Scarecrow contest to promote tourism for Scott County. The commissioner gave $1,000 to the SCVC for advertising the event.

There were 35 scarecrows entered in the contest across Scott County, and roughly 200 votes were cast for those participating, SCVC Executive Director Chris Wakeman said.

The winners included 1st place winner Lexington Presbyterian Church receiving $500 with their “Fisher’s of Men” Scarecrow, 2nd place winner was 752 Cafe receiving $300 with their various Scarecrows and 3rd place winner WesBanco with their “Family Car” Scarecrow receiving $150. Prize money was donated by Coomer’s Towing of Austin.
